With over five decades
of operation, STAR Engineering Inc., continues to be one of the world's most prominent
manufacturers of custom-built car moving equipment for the ceramic industry. Located in New Lexington, Ohio, STAR Engineering has received high acclaim for
its innovative designs, including transfer cars and car moving systems. STAR equipment can
be found in 45 states, as well as internationally in China, England, Japan, Canada,
Mexico, the Middle East and Indonesia.
At the foundation of STAR Engineering is the Mooney family, which has
guided the company since the late Thomas F. Mooney founded |
STAR Foundry & Machine Company Inc., in
1941. Six members of the Mooney family currently work at STAR, including the management
trio of brothers Bill (president), Dan (vice-president and chief engineer), and Paul
(plant engineer). A third generation that includes Tom, John, and Chris continues the
Mooney legacy that began long ago with their grandfather. STAR employs 40 people at its
plant and office complex in New Lexington. STAR Engineering has
come a long way since it began building mine cars for the coal industry and car movers for
the brick and tile industries during the War years. STAR has remained at the forefront as

into auto-cycling, then into
today's high-tech world of car-moving systems utilizing programmable controllers.
Throughout its history, STAR has never cut corners when it comes to product durability and
customer satisfaction. As engineer Tom Mooney, grandson of STAR's founder, says,

Our entire staff constantly strives to supply our customers with the best
