Kiln Propellers |
| STAR Engineering manufactures three basic types of kiln propellers units -- index push, scheduled push and combination index / scheduled push kiln operation. | ||
|
Scheduled push kiln propellers come in two variations -- the single cylinder push and dual cylinder push. In a dual cylinder push system, the cylinders take turns pushing the kiln car train. This allows the non-pushing cylinder to retract and closeup a new car to the train, while its "twin" is maintaining the push schedule. The end result is a true continuous push. An added advantage is that the cylinders can operate independently of each other, which allows one cylinder to maintain push operations in a single cylinder mode if the other cylinder is out of service. | |
| STAR's kiln propellers are powered by STAR hydraulic power units. These power units incorporate duplex
reciprocating pumps for scheduling and a rotary vane pump for fast cylinder return, quick
take-up and transfer pull-off. STAR's hydraulic kiln propellers use cylinders ranging from 2-inch to 12-inch bore diameters, with pushing forces up to 120,000 pounds. Dolly and dolly tracks using A.S.C.E. rail or channel tracks are fabricated in either the overhead undercar or inline undercar types -- with or without transfer pull-off capability. |
